BRAUN collectors, here a rarely ABW 41 - type 4839 domodisque wall clock! Clear & minimalistic design by Dietrich Lubs. Exhibition piece, in outstanding optical condition but with DEFECTIVE movement For showcase only! For collectors for whom good optical condition is more important than function. The ABW41 is rarely offered & as you probably know, it usually has a very faded, inside dusty & quite scratched acrylic glass. Here you get a really nice exhibition piece! Lubs integrated the battery compartment & the hanger into the back of the case, which made the clock "the thinnest in the world" at the time. The solid metal case is divided into three levels, which further optimizes the legibility of the already clearly designed dial. However, the ABW41 generally has two weak points, which can be seen in most of the clocks on offer online. Firstly, dust collects under the dial, which enters through the front opening. Secondly, the clock often has massive scratches, as BRAUN did not use Plexiglas but Polycarbonate, which is very soft & prone to scratches. As a result, the clocks of this model usually look very unattractive. But not this one! Fortunately, I have BRAUN assembly instructions & was able to remove the front glass without it breaking. It has been cleaned on the inside & is dust-free! in addition, it has been treated with a special acrylic polish & therefore does not have the significant scratches that are usually present.
