On the one hand, the clock is unused, NOS. That is already a rarity. But the more interesting thing is, it is labeled "Musteruhr". It translates to sample clock, exhibition piece or template. This could mean that the clock was hanging in a clock shop as an exhibit or was shown by clock distributors as a presentation item. Or, & I think this is more likely, the clock came directly from the Junghans clock factory in Schramberg & served as a template for the workers in production. Because the clock is actually the dial of a pendulum clock with weights. But these were never installed on this clock, there are also no holes on the back, which are normally present. Also, this clock is slightly larger than it is officially described in the catalog. According to the catalog, it is 25cm, but this one is 26cm, which also suggests that it could be a pre-series. I also did a long research, in my catalogs & in the Junghans archive. in the last photo, you can see the clock as it was normally offered, with pendulum, chain & weights. It is from the 1971 catalog. I purchased the clock from a dealer in Schramberg, the village where the Junghans manufacture is located, so that reinforces this thesis. I can not prove all this but I write this after long research, using my expertise of many years & to the best of my knowledge & conscience. Anyway, this clock was definitely not in regular trade. It is in excellent condition & works silent with a new Junghans battery movement. Perfect for Junghans collectors & timepiece lovers.
